(8 January 2016) Alessandra Maria Bonanotte is a professional photographer, Roman by birth, but Japanese by “adoption” (her latest exhibitions were Dialogue – Form and Image, with Cecco Bonanotte, Hiro Gallery, Tokyo, 2013; Closer, Shokoji Temple, Tateshina, Nagano, 2013; The Light of Soul, Syokando Gallery, Kyoto, 2014 and Geometry of the Spirit, Eirakukan, Iga, Mie, 2015). Her photos – Japanese chiaroscuro – will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo from Tuesday, January 19 to Saturday, February 6. The exhibition at the Exhibition Hall of the Institute, sponsored by the ICI in collaboration with Hiro Gallery, will be inaugurated on Monday, 18 January at 6:30pm with an opening ceremony that will see the participation of the young artist. “Alessandra Maria Bonanotte’s photographs portray nature, Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, artisans and their handicrafts, folk festivals and religious ceremonies. In short, she captures traditional Japan. A world – underlines the ICI – photographed many times, but never through the novelty offered by Bonanotte’s lens, able to give back its sense and purity. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of relations between Japan and Italy, this exhibition represents a happy meeting between Italian and Japanese aesthetic sensibility. “(PO / red)
