(22 January 2016) Today, January 22, opens the photo exhibition “Matera, the land where the stones speak” hosted at the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens, which will remain open until February 20. Organized by the Institute, the display features Jenny Lykourezou’s photographs of the beautiful Matera, 2019 European Capital of Culture 2019. “Jenny Lykourezou’s lens highlights the spirit, the magic, the atmosphere for ten thousand years of this city, bringing new life to these places,” commented Salvatore Adduce, Mayor of Matera. “I began studying photography in the 1990s, traveling often, exploring how man lives his daily life – explains the Greek photographer on her website – portraits and street photography, that of buildings and museums… this is the type of photography that interests me.” (PO / red)
