(29 March 2016) The show “Don Q. – Don Quixote de la Mancha” by the great Italian ballet and contemporary dance company ATERBALLETTO, will be staged for the first time in Albania on April 5, at the Theatre Opera and Ballet in Tirana (at 7pm). The event is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy in Tirana, in cooperation with the Albanian Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Tirana and the Opera and Ballet Theatre. The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to “Shkolla and Baletit” in Tirana, in order to create a scholarship for students from the outskirts of Albania. The show, choreographed by Eugenio Scigliano, sees in the lead role the Albanian dancer Hektor Budlla. Scigliano’s empathy, in the project for ATERBALLETTO which debuted in October 2014 at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia, is reflected in the character of Don Quixote, translating human displacement and the need to never abdicate one’s ideals, even if everything conspires to suffocate them. In a similarly disorienting period dictated by sudden and obscure events, Scigliano’s Knight embodies the essence of being an artist, claiming the power of sensibility and its mission to “keep alive – despite everything – the sense of wonder in the world”. The work, aires in November 2014 by Rai 5, consists of Spanish music from the seventeenth century to the present, as well as compositions by the Finnish Kimmo Pohjonen. (Red)
