(Tuesday, 12 April 2016) The international conference “Mediterraneità Europea” will be held on Thursday the 14th of April at 10 am by the conference room of the Italian Cultural Institute of Valletta. This year’s main issue will be “Malta: identity and identification in the Mediterranean civility, or of the Mediterranean Europe”. It will be a chance to confront, reflect and debate. “The Europa myth brings us to change our spacial condition and to think, both literally as in the literature, through completely different and opposite terms, then the ones we usually use when thinking about the European continent. From a consolidated Euromediterranean point of view we can go back and assume a Mediterranean Europe perspective. To achieve that, the conference – as the website of the Italian Cultural Institute explains – aims to discuss bygone and contemporary questions regarding the Mediterranean cultural heritage, using a multidisciplinary and comparative approach, in order to dig deep into these aspects of the history, of philosophy, of literature and arts. They all promote the intercultural dialogue and the respect for the diversity of Mediterranean cultures”. (red)
