(13 April 2016) Italy and the US are increasing their cyber-security collaboration. Last Saturday marked the end of a week of meetings in Washington between delegates from Italy’s CINI (National Interuniversity Consortium for Informatics), and local academic and business representatives. The delegation included Paolo Prinetto, President of CINI, and Roberto Baldoni, director of the consortium’s Cyber Security National Laboratory. The delegation participated in a US-Italy bilateral meeting, hosted by the Embassy of Italy in Washington. At the meeting, the major US federal agencies and programmes were presented (including the Office of Science and Technology Policy of the White House, National Security Agency, National Coordination Office, National Science Foundation, Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, and Networking and Information Technology Research and Development), the Laboratory’s activities were explained, as were broader Italian strategies in the area, and areas for collaboration in the short and medium term were identified. The meeting is part of the on-going activities of an IT working group created last January, when the US-Italy Scientific Cooperation Agreement was renewed. (Red)
