Boston – Possible new prospects for a collaboration between the prestigious MIT-Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston and the academic and research system of the Friuli Venezia Giulia have emerged in the last stage of the economic-institutional mission in the United States led by President of the Region Debora Serracchiani. Accompanied by the Consul General in Boston Nicola De Santis, the President was welcomed by Serenella Lash, coordinator of MIT Italy – a programme that has as the purpose to integrate Italy and the institute- who explained the philosophy, structure and opportunities of what is considered to be one of the top research universities in the world. It was founded by geologist William Barton Rogers in 1861 and has now been developed into 5 schools and 32 departments with highly specialized structures including 5 high-energy accelerators, a nuclear reactor and more than 70 interdisciplinary programmes and workshops.
