(23 May 2016) Italian wine flies to conquer China. The seventh edition of Vinexpo Hong Kong shines its spotlight on Italy. The international event will bring together the leading players of the global wine sector from the 24 to 26th of May in the Chinese financial and commercial capital (Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre – Wanchai, Hong Kong). A delegation of 21 companies, organised by the Italian Export Association – IEA (stand-GH 45 Level 1, Level 1 FG-48) will represent the Italian flag in the event in addition to presenting more than 250 wines from 9 of the most representative Italian regions. For Silvana Ballotta, CEO of Business Strategies at the Florentine company that handles the internationalization of 500 Made in Italy wine companies: “With 1,300 international exhibitors from more than 35 countries, Vinexpo Hong Kong is a point of reference for the Asia-Pacific region and is also a starting point for our producers. It’s time to pick up the pace, starting from advertisement. In fact, according to data recently released by the Chinese Customs on wine exports to China in the first quarter of 2016 – continues Ballotta – they depict Italy as a country with growing sales by 15%, but losing market shares against key competitors, ranking only in fifth place. In such a strategic situation that sees Italy as the country of honour this year, we must know how to create new opportunities for quality enhancement of Made in Italy wine “. (PO / red)
