Rio de Janeiro – “The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games are the flagship of sport without barriers. At Casa italia I haven’t met people with disabilities but instead skilled athletes who surpass their limits and compete every day in themost important game of all, i.e. their lives. With tenacity, strength and determination they have always been on the highest podium”. These are the words of the Italian-Brazilian deputy Renata Bueno who yesterday attended the opening of 2016 Paralympics, to be held in Rio September 7 to 18. “In the coming days we will witness the many triumphs of these champions even if the Paralympics are not just games and competitions”, continues Bueno. “There’s a whole world of solidarity that revolves around this important world sports event and many are the projects initiated and funded to give a chance to those disabled who want to become Paralympic. I am particularly sensitive to the struggles of these people because I also live my vision impairment simply as a different perspective of life. To all of them I extend my support and encouragement to overcome these new challenges. ” (9Colonne)
