(December 16, 2016) The Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” is the best known and characteristic institution of the Antoniano of Bologna. Founded by Mariele Ventre in 1963, originally it consisted of five children of Bologna who had participated in the first edition of the Zecchino d’Oro. Over the years it has become one of the most famous children’s choirs in the world. The Piccolo Coro, now directed by Sabrina Simoni, is ready for a double performance in China. The two concerts – we read on the Beijing Cultural Italian Institute website – will be held on January 6 and 7at 19.30 at the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center of the Chinese capital. The members of the Small Choir, ages ranging from 3 to 11 years, annually accompany the children soloists at the Zecchino d’Oro; to this important presence, it adds an intense recording and concert activity in Italy and abroad, with investments in television broadcasting and audiovisual productions. Over the years the Little Choir has met the most important protagonists of the national and international scene, such as Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Richard Attenborough, Peter Ustinov, but also Stadio, Irene Grandi, Povia and many others. In the Piccolo Coro there are children of various nationalities including French, Romanian, Dominican, Irish, Ecuador, Sri Lankan, Colombian, Argentinian, Bengali, Ukrainian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Polish, Albanian, Ivorian. This vocal and cultural wealth expands year by year, thanks to new inputs and allowed to expand his repertoire with songs in English, Chinese, Spanish, German, French and Latin. (Red)
