Essen. “Itala” is the name of a new species of daisy created in Liguria as a tribute to Italo Calvino who has strong ties to the area, and to celebrate the variety of this flower linked to research on the area. The Regional Institute of Floriculture in Sanremo was behind the creation of Itala, given the importance of daisies in this particular region and to fulfil consumer demands and international buyers in search of new varieties. The official presentation will take place in Essen, Germany. It will be the only variation of daisy flower in the Liguria stand. “The international Plant Fair of Essen represents a strategic international showcase for the most important buyers and professionals in the floricultural sector for our producers. This year the Liguria stand will make a big impact, underlining the region’s floricultural production and the new daisy flower which will be the star of this year’s edition” explains Councillor of Agriculture, Stefano Mai.
