New York – It was published on the international scientific journal “Quaternary International” a work, of which Davide Persico of the Department of Chemical Sciences, Life and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Parma is co-author, on the morphological analysis of a rare leopard fossil discovered by chance in 2015 in the alluvial sediments of the Po. The fossil, recognized after several months of preliminary investigation, was subsequently studied in collaboration with Martin Sabol, a feline specialist from the University of Bratislava, and Emiliano Troco, “paleoillustrator” artist of Cividale del Friuli. The work, carried out in collaboration with the palaeo-anthropological Po Museum, has allowed us to confirm for the first time ever the existence in the past in the Po Valley of a large predator such as a leopard.
