Amsterdam. As part of “Science Tuesdays”, the series of meetings dedicated to the relationships between literature and science in Italian literature, on September 25th, from 8pm to 9pm at the Italian Institute of Culture in Amsterdam, Prof. Gandolfo Cascio from the University of Utrecht will hold the lecture “Chemistry and Primo Levi”. In an interview in 1963, Sandro Penna was asked: “Do you think poetry is destined to end with the pursuit of science?”, the poet replied: “No, it is instead destined to grow: for reaction and because every manifestation of the spirit is always linked to progress “. From this we understand how the relationship between science and literature is not conflictual, but that both are a representation of the humanistic spirit that distinguishes our Western civilsation. The objectives of this series of meetings are to spread scientific and technological progress in Italy and to stimulate a reflection on the relationship between the different fields of knowledge and culture.
