(Jul. 27) – It is called “Evento per la pace “(Event for peace)” and will began in Reggio Emilia next Sunday, July 29th and will end on September 22nd in Brussels. It is a walk for peace, democracy and civil rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is the result of John Mpaliza Balagizi’s civil passion, a computer engineer who was born in Congo and live in Reggio Emilia. The initiative has soon involved institutions, associations, artists, citizens, and this year takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia. It will be the third walk, on the model of the first one from Reggio to Santiago de Compostela and the second one from Reggio Emilia to Rome. In this third long walk, Balagizi will touch seven European countries: Italy (Reggio Emilia, Parma, Milan, Turin) , France (Chambery, Strasbourg), Switzerland (Geneva), Germany (Freiburg), Luxembourg, the Netherlands (Maastricht) and Belgium. A journey of almost 1,600 kilometers will pass through many significant places for the European and Congolese history. (Red)
