(Jul. 27) – A special debut in a prestigious music event. On August 1st, Damiano Michieletto will direct Puccini’s “Bohème” on the occasion of the Salzburg Fest. Protagonist of the opera will be star diva Anna Netrebko. Italian Daniele Gatti on the music stand will conduct the Wiener Philharmoniker- “I would like to create a particular staging – sais Michieletto – in which you perceive the youth frenzy, the energy, conflict and confusion that characterize love. I love the feeling of madness and fantasy that pervades this story, even in its dramatic ending. The protagonists are like children: they don’t take any responsibility, seeking their own identity and looking for a place from which they can see all the world, but they take care of each other. Their psychologies are often confused and during the course of the story they don’t grow, don’t mature. Maybe the death of Mimi, in the end, forces them to face reality and understand that life is not a game.” The show created by Michieletto, is framed in a window. Through the window, a view of Paris, whose streets and squares are represented by a map similar to the ones in Google. The costumes, designed by Carla Teti, are contemporary, because for Michieletto “the goal is to have real characters on an abstract scene, which is not a real place but rather a concept”. (red)
