Dec. 27 – Reggio companies increasingly look away from the European continent and set their eye on the Latin American one, to Brazil and beyond. Emilian firms are, in fact, showing a growing interest in other areas of South America, and first and foremost Peru, which shows a great trend growth (+7% the GDP in 2011) and a level of inflation in 2012 that does not exceed 2.5%. In this context of interests and macroeconomic data, a special meeting was held, at the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Emilia, between representatives of the provincial Chamber, a large group of local businesses and the sales manager of the Italian Chamber of Commerce to Peru, from which emerged that the sectors with greatest potential for expansion and trade with companies Reggio are: the agriculture and fishery sector, timber, textiles, mining, energy, tourism and the construction industry. The latter, which is in Italy among those most affected by the crisis, has strong potential for exchanges with Peru, where the sector is undergoing a growth in residential construction and infrastructure of more than 18%. What’s more, the Peruvian government is redirecting huge investments and incentives in agricultural production, where is thus “predictable – said the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, Michelangelo Dalla Riva – a strong growth in demand for machinery and related equipment, one of the important sectors of the economy Reggio Emilia.”
