June 27 – Until August 31, Oxfam Italy’s “musical marathon,” “Oxjam – music for a change,” calls for Italian bands and DJs to enroll and commit themselves against hunger and injustice. How? By simply playing. Music is one of the most powerful channels of communication to raise awareness on issues such as lack of resources, hunger, and support to small agricultural production in the southern hemisphere. And Oxfam Italy provides many rewards for all the bands who get involved in campaigning for these issues and participate in a fundraiser. The most virtuous bands will receive a series of prestigious rewards: a concert in London for Oxjam English, a trip to Bosnia where Oxfam is present with an exhibition in Sarajevo, the production of an album, a dinner with Saturnino (Jovanotti’s bassist and co-author of big hits such as Ombellico del Mondo, Penso Positivo and Baciami Ancora), and a photo session with Alessio Pizzicannella (photographer for Neil Young, the Rolling Stones, Metallica, REM, U2, Coldplay, Oasis, Negrita, for The Times, The Guardian, and The Observer). On top of this, the best artists will get an audition with Adele di Palma, Fabrizio De Andrè’s first manager, who also managed and collaborated with: Gianna Nannini, Daniele Silvestri, Samuele Bersani, John De Leo, and Ivano Fossati. Considerable rewards for an important mission: raise funds to fight the injustice of poverty around the world, working so that all have the power and resources to build their own future.
