July 5 – This year, the “Aphrodite Award” for a Lifetime Achievement went to Monica Guerritore. The actress accepted the prestigious award during an all-female ceremony, held in recent days at MoMo Republic in Rome. Now in its 12th edition, the award is given each year to actresses, producers, directors and writers who have distinguished themselves for their work. For Monica Guerritore, the award comes after a particularly intense year, full of success. She made her debut in the musical “End of the Rainbow”, a great success on Broadway dedicated to Judy Garland, in which she sings, accompanied by live musicians, eight of the most beautiful songs of the great Hollywood movie. She also portrays Rose Tomei in the fiction “Trilussa” with Michele Placido and she is author, director and interpreter of the show “Mi chiedete di parlare,” dedicated to Oriana Fallaci. After being sold-out in each city it visited, Guerritore’s show has acclaimed by both critics and audiences and next year it will be staged in France. Before that, Monica Guerritore will be a guest at the Icastica Arezzo Festival, where she will perform on July 18 in “From Hell to Infinity,” directed by herself; in November she will be back on stage with “End of the Rainbow” for the upcoming theater season of the Elysée in Rome.
