Sept. 20 – Enoteca Italiana is about to set up an Italian Wine Academy in Shanghai. The project was developed by Yishang, Chinese home to the wine institution, in about a year and it is bound to become the first “official tool” for the dissemination of Italian wine culture in China. The academy will be based in Shanghai within the Yishang facilities, but the courses will be available nation-wide, as was agreed upon between the institutional delegation and various local operators in Shenzen and the local Siena institutions, represented by Fulvio Mancuso, deputy mayor, Lorenzo Bolgi, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, Tiziano Scarpelli, Provincial Councilor for Economic Policies, and Fabio Carlesi, Secretary General of Enoteca Italiana. The Chinese delegation came to Siena thanks to a promotional incoming organized by Toscana Promozione to boost Italian and Tuscan products. Among the delegation members, there was Jerome Zhang, President of the Vesuvius Group, important Chinese company that imports Italian wines and is interested in increasing its imports. The company is willing to establish relations with Enoteca Italiana for the purchase of wine and the president of the Chinese delegation highlighted the role of the wine institution as a guarantee for the worldwide promotion of the sector. ” The delegation was excited – said the deputy mayor Mancuso – because they would have never thought to find in such a small area a set of extraordinary unique talents: two top universities, scenic beauties, architectural pieces that make for the best food and wine tourism, all combined with ancient crafts, a notable manufacturing sector and strongly development science departments. The meeting ended on a very positive note, with an invitation to visit Shenzhen and the request by the head of the delegation, to bring a wine school and provide the necessary logistical support to boost wine culture in China.”
