Sept. 24 – The French tourist presence on the Italian island has grown the most compared to other nationalities from 2010 to the present day, with an increase compared to three years ago of about 40%. At the 35th edition of the Paris International French Travel Market Top Resa, on from today until Friday Sept. 27, the Italian region will have one more opportunity to further boost, for 2014, the numbers of French visitors. A large delegation of 31 Sardinian operators accredited by the Regional Tourism Agency (hotels and hotel chains, tour operators, holiday homes, resorts and residences, consortia and tourist services from all over the island) will put on display the island’s tourist offer at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The three-day event will host over 1200 exhibitors from nearly 150 countries, many professionals (it counted 28.788 professionals last year) and a very wide audience of outsiders (15% from abroad), plus about a thousand journalists. “Last year, the French tourists on the island were 738.000, a few thousand less than in 2011 (756,000), but still a surge from 2010, when there were 480,000 tourists. The projections for this year are similar figures to those of two years ago. In practice, the French market has become the second for accommodation, behind only the German one. The French prefer ‘ structured ‘ destinations – says Crisponi – with the possibility to choose, while on holiday, different styles and products. Our offer variety is thus a winning factor: art, culture, and an infinite number of places and landscapes. Food and wine remain the decisive elements.”
