Jan. 24 – The Lombardy Region continues in its foreign missions in view of Expo 2015. The agriculture commissioner, Gianni Fava, is in Mumbai, India, “a country with enormous economic potential, where there are over 300 million people in the middle class, who are likely to change their eating habits and learn to appreciate Italian food products.” The institutional mission statement in the State of Maharashtra saw the participation of Lombardy companies for a series of B2B meetings with local operators. “The meetings held so far – continues Fava – represent an important first step to open the doors to many of our operators to FHW Mumbai.” Italy’s presence at the fair was almost overwhelming: half of the exhibitors were from Italy. “In this context – said the commissioner – Italian products should be promoted in a more structured manner. I had the chance to present the content and themes of Expo 2015, inviting representatives of the State of Maharashtra build their regional presence at the Expo and participate in the food and nutrition debate.”
