Feb. 6 – Toulouse celebrates Italian cinema – its words and music – with a special event starring Claudia Cardinale. On 8 February, the French critic Jean A. Gili, a leading expert on Italian cinema abroad, is planning a debate that will trace the history of Italian comedies, dramas, neorealism and contemporary works. Alongside Claudia Cardina, there will be other great names of “cinema made in Italy”: Roberto Andò, Pupi Avati, Laura Morante, and Ettore Scola.. The National Theatre in the city – one of the major cultural institutions in France – will host the musical event “Les inoubliables du film italien” that will give the public the opportunity to listen unforgettable soundtracks of Italian cinema : “Amarcord”, “La vita è bella”, “C’era una volta il West”, “Mediterraneo”, “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” and “Il Postino”. The ambition of the Toulouse exhibition is “to tell Italy through its cinema and its culture, both excellent representatives of the beautiful country that is Italy. And in this beautiful and cultured city in France, the large Italian community is proud to host this event, which we hope will be the first of a long series to come.”
