Apr. 9 – “Imagining the future with you” is a communication project for Pirelli’s 2012 annual financial statement. The program was recently awarded the “PR News CSR Award” in the ‘annual financial statement’ category. The project invited students to “imagine” their tomorrow, sending the most representative word for their vision and a brief explanation to justify their choice. The most interesting words were then published in the annual financial statement of the company, and illustrated by New Yorker cartoonist Liza Donnelly. The words chosen were submitted by students from Egypt, Brazil, the United States and Italy. They were later invited to join Pirelli’s headquarters for a fixed-term work experience. The selected words were “Honesty,” “Perseverance,” “Innovation,” and “Simplicity.” They were selected by: Bina Agarwal, Professor of Development Economics and Environment at the University of Manchester; Thomas Goetz, editor for Wired; Steve McCurry, photojournalist and author of the 2013Pirelli Calendar; Carlo Ratti, director of MIT’s SENSEable City Lab; Giuseppe Tornatore, director, producer and screenwriter; and Sebastian Vettel, driver and Formula One world champion. The “CSR Awards” were announced during a ceremony held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
