May 14 – A virtual trip across Europe? It’s possible if you’re in Marseille. The Italian Institute of Culture of the French city, in collaboration with the Council of Europe and the European Committee of Marseille, organized an exhibition on the “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.” The show was inaugurated yesterday evening at the Institute (6, rue Fernand Pauriol – Marseille) and will remain open to visitors until June 6. The Cultural Routes program was designed by the European Council in 1987 with the aim to demonstrate, through virtual space-time travel, the heritage and culture of different European countries integrating and giving rise to a common cultural heritage. The tours highlight the fundamental principles of the Council of Europe: human rights, democracy, cultural diversity and identity, dialogue, exchange and mutual enrichment beyond the borders and centuries. This exhibition wants to be – in the spirit of the organizers – a trip across and through Europe, but above all “a way to overcome the past and find traces of our common roots.”
