New York – Today, at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò in New York, Edoardo Ballerini presents a reading of “Santos” by Mario Gelardi and Giuseppe Miale di Mauro, in the English translation of Dave Johnson and Laura Caparrotti, as part of the festival “In Scena” dedicated to the Italian theater festival. The text, adapted from the short novel “Super Santos” by Roberto Saviano, tells the story of four boys playing soccer in the square of a country while they are doing the lookouts on behalf of the Camorra. To follow, Aldo Rapè and Marco Carlino will perform “Mutu”, which won the award as Best Foreign Show at the Avignon Off Festival 2012. The piece, directed by Lauro Versari, tells the story of Saro and Salvuccio, two brothers one priest and the other one mobster. The story is dedicated to Don Pino Puglisi, a priest murdered by the Mafia in 1993. The play will be staged in Italian and Sicilian dialect with English subtitles. (9Colonne)
