Santiago – “We want to offer our customers the latest technology that enables them to use energy in the most efficient and intelligent way possible,” said Enel CEO Francesco Starace at the inauguration of SmartCity Santiago, Chile’s first ever smart city. Starace was speaking during his official visit to the country, during which he met Chilean President Michelle Bachelet. Through investment of $10million SmartCity Santiago has launched the Chilean capital into the future, turning the city into a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with the latest generation technology that enables local people to take part in energy management, integrates green energy and helps cut carbon dioxide emissions, improving their quality of life and changing consumption habits. This project is further testament to the global leadership Enel has in smart cities, and comes after similar initiatives in Italy, Spain and Brazil. (9colonne)
