Sept. 17 –Enel Green Power’s overseas expansion continues with the construction of a new wind farm Talinay Poniente, which will consist of 32 wind turbines for a total installed capacity of 61 MW. “Once in operation – reads a statement from the Group – the wind farm will be capable of generating up to 160 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption needs of 60,000 Chilean households. This park will avoid the emission of 130 thousand tons of CO2.” The plant will be operational by the first half of 2015. The total investment for the construction of the new plant amounted to about $140 million. The project is associated with a contract for the sale of energy to supply regulated customers, as specified by the Central Interconnected System when it released the tender. 26 distribution companies participated and the winner was announced in November 2013. The produced energy will be delivered to the transmission network by the Central Interconnected System. The plant, located in the Coquimbo region, stands opposite Talinay Oriente (90 MW), operational since last year.
