Oct. 13 – The “train for Galicia” is the pilot project of the Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, created on the centenary of the First World War. About five hundred people – including 400 young adults from Trentino, South Tyrol and the Tyrolean area – will be in Poland next October 16 to visit the sites of the Eastern Front and build on their historical memory that will allow them to better understand past and present events. The central moment of the initiative will be the secular ceremony on the main square of the Polish city on October 18, in the presence of Presidents Ugo Rossi, Arno Kompatscher and Günther Platter. Travelers arriving by train to Krakow will visit some historical and cultural sites of the eastern front, including the most important war cemeteries. It will be a way to bring back strong emotions and memories that will help remember the ‘”useless slaughter”.
