(Nov. 7) The Italian cinema arrives in Los Angeles with movies, interviews with actors and directors, documentary, an exhibition and a world premiere of the restored copy of the Oscar-winning “Cinema Paradiso”. This is Cinema Italian Style, the event dedicated to the Italian cinema presented by Cinecittà Luce and the American Cinematheque. The initiative, sponsored by the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission and the Italian Cultural Institute, will be held in California from November 13 to 18 and will be enriched by a special evening on November 10 at the Egyptian Theatre. The temple of the first Hollywood red carpet special will host a special dedication to producer Franco Cristaldi and tribute to one of his masterpieces, “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” by Giuseppe Tornatore. The digital restoration in 4k resolution of the film that won the Grand Prix of the Jury at Cannes will be screened as part of AFI Fest 2014, presented by Danny DeVito, passionate about Italian cinema. And there’s more: from November 13, the official program for the Cinema Italian Style with the projection, again at the Egyptian Theatre, of “Il Capitale Umano” by Paolo Virzi, which will officially inaugurate the race to for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. The director himself anche Matild Gioli, the young actress who won the Nastro d’Argento for Best Actress Revelation of the Year, will attend the event. Up to November 18, at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, some 10 titles selected by Laura Delli Colli and Gwen Deglise from the American Cinematheque will be presented: from “Italy in a Day” by Gabriele Salvatores to “Le Cose Belle” by Agostino Ferrente and Giovanni Piperno, from “Un ragazzo d’Oro” by Pupi Avati to “La mafia uccide solo d’estate” by Pierfrancesco Diliberto aka Pif.
