Nov. 27 – Villa Lante in Bagnaia, Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, Villa d’Este in Tivoli… All these well-known Italian Renaissance villas have one thing in common: their magnificent water gardens. A series of water lines give rise to different fountains, turning water into a dynamic force. The fountains were designed to arouse wonder and admiration, while remaining a playful expression of the owner’s status symbol. Haifa, Israel, is hosting one of the meetings in the series “In the shadow of Italian gardens abroad,” with Professor Ada Vittoria Segre on “Water theaters in large Italian gardens.” The appointment is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, at 7:30pm, at the Wizo Academic Center (room 104 in rehov HaGanim 21). The conference (in Hebrew) is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute. Segre, a historian and restorer of gardens, studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Bologna and the University of York (UK). (PO / Gil)
