Dec. 31 – As the first Italians to sign a contract with a US major label, they performed with Barbra Streisand and Placido Domingo. They recorded duets with Anastacia and were applauded by 10.000 spectators in the US and Mexico City. They aren’t just “tenorini”, because Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble aren’t any longer the thirteen year olds that participated in a talent show but international stars. Now in their twenties, they are known throughout the world and their success seems to have no boundaries. For this reason, Rai2 decided to dedicate a primetime segment to the three talents on New Year’s. Il Volo will star in the series “Unici” which airs Thursday, January 1 at 9.10pm entitled “Tre come noi.” Since their debut on Antonella Clerici’s TV show “Ti lascio una canzone,” Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca chose their stage name, Il Volo, after signing a contract with a US label. They reached fame for their ability to reinterpret in a pop style and with a great vocal expressiveness, songs from the classical, Neapolitan and international repertoire. (red)
