Jan. 12 – 5 years after the earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12, 2010, the Italian Red Cross takes stock of what has been achieved in Port au Prince. Three months ago, it opened the “Village Haitien Solferino”, a settlement of 53 houses for homeless families, the largest Italian Red Cross cooperative project in recent years. Established with the Haitian Red Cross in the district of Croix de Bouquets, the Italian Red Cross project was accomplished by employing exclusively local workers. Besides the village, the Red Cross built a pole to encourage the creation of new jobs, restart social activities and work.
