Feb. 4 – While we wait for the 61st edition of the TaorminaFilmFest, which this year takes place on June 12-20, the organizers announced that in 2016 the festival will go to Los Angeles. Thanks to an agreement with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General in Los Angeles and with the Italian Trade Agency, LA hosts the presentation of selected film Italian and Sicilian independent productions. The aim is to promote Italian cinema abroad, giving a special attention to films made by Sicilians: the winner of the “Cariddino d’Oro,” awarded by The Agis School Jury during the next edition of TaorminaFilmFest will definitely be screened in the US. “The past two years have brought a selection of TaorminaFilmFest movies to Russia and Argentina – highlighted Tiziana Rocca, general manager of the festival – offering an important visibility to our cinema in these countries. We now hope that in Los Angeles, the Festival can help small productions be known and appreciated.”
