Stanford – It’s an important recognition for a graduate student at the University of Parma. Niccolò Mora, of the research group on “Assistive Technologies,” presented a project that was selected as one of the eight finalists in the competition “Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge.” The Challenge is a competition to encourage students to design products and services to improve the lives of the elderly. It focuses on ways to motivate and empower the elderly towards a more active daily life, both in their homes and within their communities. The “Fitness Hunt” proposed by Mora aims to encourage physical activity of the elderly through an app for smartphones, that acquires information from sensors placed in the home and encourages exercise using furniture and household items.
