Mogadishu – The Italian Directorate General for Development Cooperation approved a voluntary grant contribution of €500 000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the support of outreach and protection activities carried out in Somalia, in collaboration with the Somali Red Cross. The Italian contribution will be used to strengthen the population’s resilience to armed conflict, ongoing violence, and natural disasters. Expected activities include the distribution of food rations, drinking water and basic necessities, paired with awareness-raising activities for the respect of international law and humanitarian principles, including the right to basic service access. Part of the funding will be allocated to restore the main productive activities, with the supply of seeds, and agricultural and veterinary services. (9Colonne)
