May 22 – The book “Il Sentiero dei Profumi” (Garzanti 2014, 392 p.) by Cristina Caboni has won over Italian readers and has become an international publishing phenomenon. And now, it’s preparing to make its debut in Albania. The book was in fact translated into Albanian and will now be presented in Tirana, Vlora and Berat. “Shtegu the profumeve” (the title of the novel translated by Dituria) tells the story of Elena, a woman who lost all confidence and no longer believes in love. The only time she can leave her insecurities behind is when she creates perfumes. “Life put me to the test. But iris gives me confidence, and vanilla makes me feel protected. Because perfumes are my way,” writes Cristina, a writer from Cagliari who also works for the family’s beekeeping company, mainly dealing with the care of queen bees. Another great passion of the author Sardinian are her roses, of which she grows a large variety of species. The world of perfumes and essences has accompanied her for a long time, and her first novel, “Il Sentiero dei profumi” is a tribute to the most fascinating smell, that of a distant memory, a lost or unreachable love, a hope that promises new opportunities. The book and the author will be presented on Wednesday, June 3 at 11am at the Library of the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana; and at 6.30pm at the Berat Library. Caboni will also stop at the local university, where on Thursday June 4 at 11am she will present her novel in the Great Dean’s Hall of the “Ismail Qemali” University in Vlora. The two-day event was organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana and by the Dituria Publishing House, in collaboration with the Berat Library and CG Vlora. (Red)
