June 17 – “What makes the desert beautiful, is that somewhere it hides a well” famously said the Little Prince in the work of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. And this time, the Algerian desert hides Salerno companies. In late July, after the end of Ramadan, the works for “Rose du Desert” will begin: the construction project wants to build an innovative tourist village in the southern Algerian desert. The project is promoted by eight Salerno companies (who formed an ad hoc company, the ANCE Sarl, chaired by Michele Allegretti), in an international partnership that brings together a Saudi group. “The project – explained Antonio Lombardi, president of the Salerno National Association of Manufacturers and coordinator of the project ‘Oasis Rose du Desert’ – provides for an investment of €1.3 billion for the construction of a tourist village in the desert of Ouargla, 700 km from Algiers, one of the poorest areas of Algeria, with a GDP that is less than half of the northern area of the country and in which the population lives in situations of serious hardship. The goal is to attract high-end tourism from around the world, not only from Europe. ” (Red)
