9 July, 2015 – In line with tradition, the Italian Week of Montréal will end with the presentation of an outdoors opera. This year it’s up to the Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini to bring to life Little Italy. “It is a pleasure to organize an event of this magnitude. The outdoor opera event of the Italian Week is a kind of art that isn’t always accessible to everyone,” explained Artistic Director Salvatore Sciascia. The Barber of Seville will be staged on Sunday, August 16 at 9pm at the Loto-Quebec, along the boulevard Saint-Laurent, on the corner of rue Saint-Zotique. In case of rain. Conducting the Symphony Orchestra, there will be, directly from Italy, Maestro Gianluca Martinenghi. Soprano Raphaëlle Paquette will play the role of Rosina, while tenor Antonio Figueroa will be Count Almaviva, and baritone Cosimo Eliseo plays Figaro. (Red)
