Khartoum – “Two-evangelical Christian pastors tried in Sudan on charges of espionage and blasphemy, who risked the death penalty, were acquitted of all charges and are free at last,” confirms Antonella Napoli, journalist and president of Italians for Darfur, the association that promoted an appeal for the release of the two reverends, imprisoned for eight months in Khartoum. In Italy, 70.000 gave their signature in support of the petition put forth by Italians for Darfur. The association has asked for a Senate hearing, presented by the President of the Human Rights Commission in the Senate, Luigi Manconi, and a motion at the European Parliament signed by the President of the S&D Group, and many other MEPs.
