Kabul – “Our country is plagued by poverty and the next target is to reach a new independence, this time from hunger, which is one of the themes of Expo Milan 2015”. With these words, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mozammil Shinwari, yesterday officially opened the celebrations of the National Day of Afghanistan, which also saw the participation of the Italian Undersecretary of State for Defence, Gioacchino Alfano. “We are grateful to Expo Milano 2015 and the Italian Government for giving our country a unique opportunity to be present in this fantastic adventure – added Mozammil Shinwari, who is also general commissioner of the pavilion of the Asian country – Thanks, in particular, for giving us the opportunity to celebrate our National Day on the day following that on which Afghanistan is celebrating the anniversary of its independence, achieved on August 19th 1990. We are here to present the world our potential, as well as the Afghan tastes and flavors that can reach the European market and thus bring our cultures closer.
