September 15th, 2015 – The Istituto Medicina Solidale Onlus, Gaia Ferrara from Viandando and the associations Don Michele De Paolis (Emmaus) and Doctors with Africa Onlus-Cuamm are the four Italian winners of the 47th edition 2015 European Citizen’s Prize. The awards ceremony will take place in Florence on Friday morning, in the Historical Archives of the European Union in Villa Salviati. Since 2008, the European Citizen’s Prize is awarded to individual citizens or groups that stand out in their contribution to European integration and dialogue between peoples, putting into practice the values of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Sylvie Guillaume (S & D, France), and the jury of the “European Citizens Prize 2015” of which Guillaume is president, rewarded the efforts of citizens in areas such as healthcare for the poor, food aid, the rescue of migrants, solidarity, universal education, combating radicalization and the protection of LGBT rights.
