Bratislava – To close the Year of Italian Culture in Slovakia, musically speaking, there’s the concert “A trip to Italy” by the Bernini Quartet, scheduled for today at the Philharmonic in Bratislava. The evening, organized and supported by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava, has as special guest the Slovak harpist Katarína Turnerová. The quartet was founded in Rome in 1998 by a group of four musicians: Gianluca Saggini (viola), Valeriano Taddeo (cello), Marco Serino (violin), and Yoko Ichihara (violin). Over the years, the ensemble collaborated with important composers and musicians of international renown such as Bruno Canino, Giovanni Sollima, Vladimir Mendelssohn, and Alain Meunier. Winners of the “Premio Michelangelo 1999”, Salvatore Accardo defined the quartet the “heirs of the great tradition of Italian chamber music”. (9Colonne)
