Guangzhou – China Southern Airlines landed at Fiumicino airport with three weekly flights to Guangzhou (Canton) via Wuhan, cities of strategic importance in terms of logistics and business. Guangzhou is the largest coastal city in southern China, with nearly 13 million inhabitants, and is the third for residents and importance after Shanghai and Beijing. Guangzhou leads to Australia, thanks to the new Boeing B787 Dreamliner; while Wuhan, with over 9 million people, is instead considered the “Chicago of China”. Within a radius of about 1100 km there are the most dynamic economic zones of the country: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing – only an hour and a half away via flight. In 2014, China Southern, the first civil airline in China to have passed this threshold, carried more than 100 million passengers, ranking first in Asia and third in the world. Overall, the weekly flights connecting the airport Leonardo da Vinci to China are now 30, with 6 carriers operating to 7 direct destinations in China, in addition to Hong Kong and Taiwan. (9Colonne)
