(12 January, 2016) New collaborations between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Iran regard art, history, and archeology, as talks in the Iranian capital focused on a project to bring to Aquileia (Udine) important archaeological finds from the National Museum of Tehran. The occasion was the meeting between the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region Debora Serracchiani and the Vice President of Iran’s Organization for Cultural Heritage and Tourism / Ichhto (a structure directly dependent from the Presidency of the Republic), Mohammad Hassan Talebian. During the next few days, the parties will work on the drafting of the document, while a formal official announcement could be released in late January. But the project looks beyond. The memorandum of understanding between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Ichhto, made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Ambassador in Tehran Mauro Conciatori, could feature additional content, including other cultural sectors in which the Iranian government expressed great interest. Vice President Talebian illustrated, in particular, the desire of authorities and specialists of the Islamic Republic of Iran to improve and deepen their knowledge in terms of conservation of archaeological and museum sites, cataloging and restoration. The agreement will thus contain a number of specific indications, agreed upon by Serracchiani and Talebian, for the sharing of skills elaborated in the degree course in Cultural, Architectural and Bibliographic Conservation at the University of Udine and the Institute of Cataloging of Villa Manin. “These entities – recalled Serracchiani – have a great experience in the area, and the exhibition in Aquileia would represent only the beginning of cultural relations between our region and Tehran”.
