(26 January 2016) On January 29, the Göteborg Film Festival in its 29th edition kicks off, presenting the very best of Italy’s independent productions. In fact, the 2016 edition of the Festival features a “Focus Italy” that will screen some twenty Italian films (alongside another 475 from other countries). The first piece to be presented is Luca Guadagnino’s “A Bigger Splash”. Released last year and starring Tilda Swinton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson, the film opens the Gothenburg Film Festival. Many Italian guests, Valerio Mastandrea and Claudio Santamaria, will attend the event. The Swedish showcase will end on February 8. As the Italian Cultural Institute of Stockholm writes, Gothenburg is a city in southern Sweden, located in the county of Västra Götaland, in the historical province of Västergötland. Italy’s participation in the event was organized with the support of the Istituto Luce in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and the ITA office in Stockholm. (Red)
