Lisbon – The Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon has organized for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy the screening of the film ‘The Seven Works of Mercy,’ with the special participation of director Gianluca De Serio. Yesterday’s screening at the Institute was attended by the Apostolic Nuncio to Lisbon, Archbishop Rino Passigato, who recalled the significance of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, proclaimed by Pope Francis with the papal bull Misericordiae Vultus. The Jubilee began on 8 December 2015, and will end on 20 November 2016. The film, screened with subtitles in Portuguese, stars Roberto Herlitzka and follows the story of Luminita, an illegal teenager on the run, forced to live in the cockpit of a car and make money via shady dealings managed by the captors that hold her in semi-slavery. As Luminita accepts to be a part of a criminal plan that should help her get out of her situation, she has to (at time violently) meet everyday with Antonio, a mysterious old man quickly approaching his death. The forced encounters between the two will give both a chance at redemption that will give them meaning to their existence. (9Colonne)
