(April 16th, 2016) Made in Italy is once again protagonist in Asia. Through 9 companies from the provinces of Cuneo and Turin, Piedmont is for the first time among the participants of “Food Asia” in Singapore: one of the most important agri-food fairs in the region. The main goal of the Piedmontese companies is to consolidate or expand their business in the South East Asian. “Food Asia” it is a biennial event that has now reached its 20th edition. Piedmont delegation is set in Hall 8 inside the Italian pavilion: 7 companies share one island called “Taste of Italy”, to provide the opportunity to their potential customers to have a single reference point for all the major Italian products, and so to share their commercial and logistical synergies. Last year over 63,500 participants from 97 countries, more than 2,900 exhibitors and 56 national pavilions took part to “Food Asia”. Thus making the fair an extraordinary opportunity for companies interested in this area. Thanks to its strategic location, Singapore is an incredible hub for tourism and logistics in Southeast Asia, plus it has an excellent network for distribution and marketing. Singapore depends on the international market for food, since it imports most of its total need. Retail sales take advantage of excellent distribution channels, such as hypermarkets, supermarkets, and “Gourmet & specialties shops”. High quality, food safety and authenticity of the products have become essential in this market; where also the interest in organic products is growing. Piedmont presence in the region benefits from the support of the Integrated Project for the Supply chain (PIF), Piedmont Food Excellence, managed by the Foreign Centre for Internationalization (Ceipiemonte) on behalf of the Region of Piedmont, Unioncamere Piemonte and the Chambers of Commerce of Piedmont and Valle d ‘Aosta, and is organized in collaboration with the Centro Estero Alpi del Mare.
