(May 12, 2016) “Nobody’s Room” is the title of the performance exhibition by Silvia Giambrone which will be inaugurated Thursday, May 19 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne at 19:00. In the German city, the Sicilian artist presents a “concert for voices that proposes performative strategies of domestic survival”. The performance text is in fact an adaptation from “Directions scattered on the ground” by the Bosnian poet and playwright Nedzard Maksumić, which was originally intended to provide guidance on how to survive a war. Silvia Giambrone recites his monologue as a confession. Davide Enia, Dalila Andrea Cozzolino and Di Palma overlap with her. Everybody is inside “nobody’s room” talking over each other and reciting each their own existential recipe. Each in his or her own way, at his or her pace, fictions obsessions, candour and tics. The artist works with several art galleries and has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, USA, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Austria. In 2013 he won the Main Prize of the Kanaus Biennale; in 2014 the Collectors Celest Prize at Art Verona fair and the Francesci Fabbri Prize, Bim in Pieve di Soligo nomination Prize. “Nobody’s Room” was organised in collaboration with Studio Crearte Oderzo (Treviso) and will remain at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne until June 6th.
