Longyearbyen. 4th year high school school students from Fabio Filzi high school in Rovereto (Trento) are leaving for Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic sea. A journey to discover one of the frontiers of Italian and international scientific research – not coincidentally the project is supported by the Autonomous Province of Trento with the Department of universities and research, youth policy, equal opportunities, development cooperation and the Department of Education, has been supported since its inception by the CNR (National Research Council) – but also a self-financed trip, thanks mainly to a crowdfunding campaign involving many citizens and private sponsors, allowing the 20 participants, accompanied by professors Matteo Cattadori and, and Dominic Fiorillo, Federico Giglio CNR, to raise the necessary €30,000. Renamed the “Reset” project, the ten-day journey includes a visit to the Svalbard islands, the research centres of the CNR and the Norwegian Polar Institute, but also to nature sanctuaries and the sites of the first historical explorations of the polar regions.
