Brussels – Superfast Computers running applications in half the time and energy. This is the result of REPARA (Reengineering and Enabling Performance and Power of Applications, http://www.repara-ict.eu), a European project of the Seventh Framework Programme which has just been completed with the active participation of the IT Department of University of Pisa. “In the three years of the project we have developed automatic or semi-automatic techniques for transforming existing programs written in C ++ standards in equivalent software but achieving important savings in time and energy when processed on modern machines equipped with graphics cards and reconfigurable hardware,” explained professor Marco Danelutto coordinator of the group of parallel calculation of the University of Pisa IT department.
