(22 September, 2016) The third gathering dedicated to Italian scientists will be held in the Benedetto Croce Hall of the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires. “Rita, one hundred years of inspiration” is the title of the event that will take place today, 22 September at 18:30. Francesca Battista is the organiser of the event dedicated to Rita Levi-Montalcini, the first Italian woman to receive a Novel Prize for medicine and life-long senator, who passed away at the age of 103 in 2012. In her last web interview, at the age of 101, “the small lady with an untameable willpower and with the expression of a princess” as described by the writer Primo Levi, once said: “the body can do as it pleases, I am my mind”. Rita Levi-Montalcini transmitted many messages to future generations such as depending on the human capital, believing in one’s potentials and securing women’s right to education especially in developing countries. The Non-Profit Rita Levi-Montalcini Foundation was founded on these principles and to support women’s education in the African continent. Its aims are to give every woman the tools to be able to fully work up to their potentials, allowing to escape from discrimination and for them to carry out their role in society with dignity. The second objective of the Foundation is for women’s education to provide an essential contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of an entire society.
